Mating Monarchs

Spring is close and I am having spring fever BAD.So I thought I would post one of my oils with a spring flavor Mating Monarchs has a great spring feel. The bright fresh greens, booming spring flowers and whats more spring than mating butterfly's!This painting evolved from a hike the kids and I took in Ojibway Park on a beautiful spring day.The kids were amazed and intrigued with the amount of Monarchs mating in the wild flowers. What fond memories now there all grown up and not interested in hikes with Dad oh well theres always the grandchildren lol.Visit my website at

Solitary Vireo

This is a painting done in color pencil on Strathmore vellum paper. The Solitary Vireo is a difficult bird to see not to mention draw.I seen this one in Devon Park on my lunch break, did some sketches and a few photos as reference. One note on Devon Park in Windsor Ontario, its just a little forested area in the city but has some great birding in the spring and fall and nicely groomed trails for walking ,jogging ect. It's not Point Pelee but it is a good place for nature in the city.
